Tomas Bata University, established in 2001, is one of the most dynamically growing higher education institution in the Czech Republic. The institute comprises of six faculties offering training in humanities, technology, natural sciences and art. With almost 9,200 students enrolled in its portals, TBU ranks very high among Czech universities. It is also one of the most prominent centres of research in the country.
The university is named after the world-famous entrepreneur Tomas Bata and follows the longstanding tradition of the Faculty of Technology, which was founded in 1969 and has educated hundreds of technical professionals since then. TBU places a lot of importance on all forms of international co-operations, with special focus on student exchanges, lectures, teaching internships and joint research projects.
In 2012, TBU was awarded the ECTS Label by the European Commission, one of the most prestigious European certificate awarded to tertiary education institutions. TBU is also a member of the European University Association. The academic collaboration between Czech College and Tomas Bata University enables students of the Czech language Foundation Course to continue and progress to the degree programmes at TBU.
